What is ITE?

When a child is accepted into our program, it is usually because there are challenges occurring in their life that requires a different kind of atmosphere for stability and support. We call this ‘Individualized Therapeutic Education’.

Individualized means that each child is evaluated and ‘fitted’ with curriculum and daily structure that is specific to their educational and emotional needs. For example, in the evaluation process, we are able to determine their attention span. Our goal is to anticipate when the child loses interest or focus.

Breaks are designed to keep serotonin levels high and thus build a sense of confidence. Serotonin is a chemical in the body that is a contributor to feelings of well-being and happiness. This defines the Therapeutic aspect of what we do.

‘Curriculum’ is more than reading, writing & arithmetic. Some curriculum stimulates a side of the brain that is at a deficit. Other curriculum strengthens listening skills. These ‘Classes’, with the usual subjects, all tied together, strengthens the “muscles” of the brain which provides a stronger aptitude for learning.
